The Pony League is competitive. It builds upon the building skills with full baseball rules. The league's goal is to teach the players teamwork, the responsibilities of being a team member, respect, and sportsmanship, as well as to develop their baseball skills, all in a positive environment. Good sportsmanship and skills development are emphasized.

In April, we start with practice, which usually takes place on (1) weekday evening and (1) Saturday.  The season starts in May and consists of approximately 12 games (twice per week, one weekday and 1 Saturday).  While we do not keep standings during the season, we hold a playoff that usually lasts (2) weeks, starting in mid-June.  The Pony team(s) play in an inter-town league run by Palatine Community Baseball and Softball (PCBS).  Other towns involved are Barrington, Hoffman Estates, Rolling Meadows, and Schaumburg.  About 1/3 of our games are played in Lake Zurich.

The teams are formed through a player draft based partly on evaluation data from a previous season. If this is your first season playing with us, don't worry! Your player will be randomly assigned. Requests to pair players are not accepted; this is done to create a competitive balance across the league.

Players in this league also qualify to try out for our Grizzlies Part-Time Travel Program, which plays a more competitive schedule of home games and 2-3 area tournaments (See Part-Time Travel Grizzlies Page).
