The Rookie League is our entry level for baseball and softball. It is a non-competitive league comprised of boys and girls who are ages 5 years old by December 31st of the current year (Pre K) and Kindergarteners.
The league is designed for the children to have fun while learning the basic elements of baseball: throwing, fielding, running, and batting. Teams will cover such topics as where to stand in the field, which direction to run, how to throw a baseball, how to hold a bat, etc. It is an underhand coach pitch league. Rookie league also uses a “safe ball” to minimize chance of injury.
The season consists of approximately 12 games (twice per week, 1 weekday and 1 Saturday or Sunday). Each game is broken down into two parts. The first 30 minutes of each game is designed around instruction of the various skills being taught. The second part is a 3-inning game that usually lasts about 1 hour.
After registration is completed, all participants are placed on a team by the league President. While we cannot guarantee that any two players will be placed on the same team, we do accept requests to pair players (with a mutual friend request) and will accommodate it whenever possible. One request per player. We also look to group players by school when possible.
