What is the Grizzlies Part Time Baseball Travel Program?

This Part-Time Travel Baseball Program is an extension of house league baseball that provides players with a more competitive experience. The program was formed to provide LZBSA participants an alternative to full time travel with enhanced player development to elevate their game within the baseball community.

The teams will play in 1-2 tournaments and in a competitive baseball league against other northern Illinois communities. Northern Illinois All-star League (N60) is the competitive division teams will participate in. This league provides an opportunity to schedule games against other communities with similar part time travel programs in Lake, Cook, and McHenry Counties. Home games will be played on LZBSA fields.

All players in the part time travel program must also participate in the LZBSA "in house" program. The Grizzlies program allows kids to practice more and possibly play an additional 12-15 games which when added to the "in house" season would result in the player participating in roughly 30 games during the spring/summer season. Schedules are formed so that Grizzlies games and house games will not conflict.

To be selected, players will participate in a tryout and will be evaluated based on skill. Tryouts are required in order to be eligible to make a part-time travel team. The number of teams at each age level may vary depending on the number of players who tryout.

The cost for Grizzlies is about $300 (in addition to "in house" baseball fees). This includes uniforms, tournament fees, travel league fees, umpire fees, and practice fields (indoor and outdoor).  The cost will vary per age level based on the number of games or tournaments targeted.

Tryouts for 9U Grizzlies will take place in February. For the older ages, tryouts will be held in April. The date, times and location for tryouts will be posted to the LZBSA website (under Part Time Travel).
