Challenger Division Accepting Registration for Buddies!!

The Challenger Division, developed in conjunction with Little League International, is a league designed to help mentally and/or physically challenged youth enjoy the full benefits of pulling together as a team and participating in a baseball environment structured to their abilities.
Last year we had 40 players, ranging in age from 4-18, divided into 4 teams that played 6 games on Sunday afternoons in mid May and June.

The hallmark of the program is the participation of volunteer "Buddy" players, aged 11 years and older, from our traditional house and travel leagues.

  • A buddy player or players are assigned to each Challenger player and are responsible for playing side by side with the Challenger players and assisting them throughout the game.
  • Activities include helping them play in the field, talking to them in the dugout, helping them hit, helping them get around the bases, and talking to them about the game afterwards.
  • Incredible bonds are formed between Challenger players and their buddies throughout the season, and the entire experience is extremely fun and rewarding for everyone involved.

If you are interested in being a Buddy and assisting our Challenger players, please go to the Challenger page on the LZBSA website, print out the Buddy Registration form.

Mail completed form to:
Gloria Palmblad
LZBSA
P.O. Box 411
Lake Zurich, IL  60047

It is very important to fill out the form and mail it in so that we can get you officially paired with one of our players and can communicate program specifics/schedules to you via your email address.

Thanks very much, in advance, for helping make this program a great success and a tremendous experience for our players.
