Details Available Here

By community request, Lightning Travel Softball will hold tryouts for an 18U team:

  • 18U:  8/16 - 5:30-8:00 PM, Heritage Oaks

Interest in an 18U team has been building since Lightning tryouts were first announced. It appears we have a critical mass. Interested girls should register by clicking here.

Tryouts for all other age groups remain as originally scheduled. All sessions will be held at Heritage Oaks softball field:

  •  12U:  8/1 - 5:30-8:00 PM
    • Rain Date/Make-up - 8/7 - 5:30-8:00 PM
  • 14U: 8/14 - 5:30-8:00 PM
    • Rain Date/Make-up - 8/15 - 5:30-8:00 PM
  • 16U: 8/8 - 5:30-8:00 PM
    • Rain Date/Make-up - 8/13 - 5:30-8:00 PM

Make-up dates are provided for those with unresolvable conflicts on the primary date. "Strategically", it is far better to attend the main tryout if at all possible so that your daughter can be seen in real time relative to her peers.

  • All players within the LZBSA area are welcome
    • See below for LZBSA area definition
  • There is no tryout fee
  • Players should arrive 30 mins prior to start time to warm up and get organized to take the field sharply.

  • Players should bring their own equipment & water. Catchers with their own gear should bring that too.

A player's age on December 31, 2012 determines the age group she will play in next season. For example, if a girl is 12 years old on December 31, 2012 she is eligible for the 12U team. If her 13th birthday is on December 31, 2012, she is not eligible for the 12U team, and would have to try out for the 14U team.

All Lightning families will be asked to participate in a Program Level fall fundraising event. Funds raised thru the fall fundraiser will help control individual player fees and provide for specialized instruction and/or shared training aides.

Please visit the Lightning website for more information about the Program. Links on the left side bring up FAQs, Fundraiser details, and the Lightning Program Philosophy. Note that all 2013 Lightning players & parents will be asked to commit to the principles outlined in the Philosophy.

If you have any questions or are unable to make the indicated tryout date & time, please contact Steve Schmit.
