The Lake Zurich Baseball & Softball Assoc is seeking enthusiastic, energetic volunteers to serve on the 2012 Board of Directors. Board members are elected in mid-October and serve one year terms. Position responsibility descriptions can be found at the LZBSA website, on the Board page (Click here).

The Board is a great group of people to work with. New members can count on help and support from the veterans While there are always new challenges every year, the Association has been running these programs for years. Lots of processes & mechanics are in place.

We are specifically in need of help with the following:

• President Majors (11-12 Baseball)
• President Juniors (9-10 Softball)
  
• Tournament Director (Softball)
  
• Property Manager

You've been on the Board for what, 6 years now Steve? Why do you do it?

Everyone who serves of the Board does so for their own reasons. For me, it's about paying back those who made it possible for me, and then my children, to participate in organized sports.

I'll never forget being cornered at a high school graduation party by my best friends father. He poked his boney index finger in my chest (repeatedly) saying, "Schmitty, a lot of people sacrificed so that you could be here today. You'll never be able to pay them back directly."

"But that's not how a community works. You pay back those that did for you by doing for those who come after you. Not now. Maybe not in the next 15 years. But at some point in your life, the time will be right."

Now is the time for me.
